Tell your story.

The StoryMap Project is a digital composition project where students utilize professional GIS tools provided by ESRI through an educational license. Students use ESRI’s suite of software to create interactive websites based on their research of a selected location. This project encourages students to develop and refine their research skills, focusing on narrowing their research into three distinct areas. Students learn to formulate and differentiate between “open” and “closed” questions, inspired by Warren Berger's book A More Beautiful Question. They use these questioning techniques to guide their research on a location significant to their identity. The culmination of their efforts is the creation of a StoryMap website, incorporating text, photos, and GIS maps enriched with detailed metadata, to provide a comprehensive and engaging presentation of their location that is published online.
